Meet Constantine Tsang, CTO & Co-Founder, Uncanny

Turning Streamers into Broadcasters

Meet Oxonian, Constantine Tsang, who is CTO and Co-Founder of Uncanny GG, a company that provides AI tools to help live gaming streamers create professional broadcasts and optimize monetization.

What did you study at Oxford?

I graduated with a DPhil in Astrophysics and was a member of Trinity College.

How did your time at Oxford contribute to becoming an entrepreneur?

I did not imagine I would become an entrepreneur.

How did you decide to found Uncanny?

I kept beating my friend at video games, and he wanted to know how I was so good and if there was software that would help him analyze his play and improve his performance. This was how the idea of Uncanny started, trying to help esports players improve their performance by using computer vision to analyze their gameplay and win more.

Today, Uncanny helps streamers create beautiful, engaging live-stream productions with the use of AI. Using AI with Twitch and other major streaming services Uncanny automatically generates appropriate cues, footage, and monetization during the live stream. This leaves streamers doing what they do best - entertaining, and lets Uncanny handle the rest.

What has been the most rewarding experience building your company?

When we were accepted into the highly selective accelerator Techstars, that was a huge win. Also, getting some of the biggest streamers to use our system, and talking with some of the biggest brands and pro teams in the industry.

Where do you see the company going in the next few years?

Using AI in live-streams especially for dynamic, real time brand advertising and delivery goes beyond just gaming, but can be applied for in-real-life streaming for travel, cooking, music and more. That’s where we see our technology stack providing fundamental value over the next 3-4 years.

Why is the Oxford Angel Fund excited about this investment?

The live streaming industry was valued at $3.8 billion as of 2021 and is predicted to grow at a CAGR of 22% for the next five years. Uncanny is the first-ever, real-time data engine for gaming and streaming, providing AI tools to help live gaming streamers create professional broadcasts and optimize monetization. We are excited about Uncanny’s business in gaming and also see wider applicability for its technology. Using AI in live-streams especially for dynamic, real time brand advertising and delivery goes beyond gaming, and can be applied for in-real-life streaming for travel, cooking, music and more.
